I really enjoy drawing comic book characters. That’s how I began - with simple characters and poses. One of the most common questions I get about my art is, have I ever taken an art class? The answer is no. I’ve never taken a formal art class and have no formal training. I did, however, grow up in a family of artists. My maternal grandmother was a master watercolorist, and my mother has won a few awards for her oil paintings. So, creativity was always encouraged ever since I can remember. I recall poring over drawing books when I was kid - you know, the type that starts with a basic shape and then adds layers until you have a final image? Probably the most useful reference for me when I was young was a book titled How To Draw Comics The Marvel Way. I even gave a copy of the book to my kids, who thankfully all have a creative streak of their own.

The second most common question I get is, do I sell my art? So far, the answer to that question has also been no, though I am exploring that option. I’ve never really considered or pursued that option. I have thousands of pieces at home, most of which have been completed just for fun. That being said, I am open to commissions if there is something you’d like for me to create. Just contact me.

Below are just a small sample, from the last couple of years, of a huge array of drawings, paintings, and sketches. Most of my comic art is done in pencil and some, as you’ll notice, have been inked. The samurai, bison, and elk are all pencil sketches done with a regular #2 pencil on multimedia or poster paper. A couple of the images, like the Gunstar or Galactus images are done digitally. For my paintings, I primarily use acrylics on canvas. It’s an easier medium for me to work with. And while you may not be able to tell from the gallery here, I prefer larger framed canvases - generally 36inch x 48inch.

I may have to comb through my collection for more.
